IcyZip

QR paired transfer

Browser File Transfer

Pair two browser views with a QR code, use the same live text field on both sides, and send one selected file when you need a quick handoff between phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop.

IcyZip browser page showing a QR code for pairing another device
IcyZip starts with a QR code. The second browser opens the pairing link and joins the same session.
  • No account. Open the page, scan the QR code, and use the paired browser session.
  • No app install. IcyZip runs in modern browsers on phones and computers.
  • Not cloud storage. File transfer is for a selected file in a live paired session.

How it works

Move from QR code to transfer in three steps

Use IcyZip for quick browser-to-browser handoffs without sending yourself email, setting up a cloud folder, or installing a transfer app.

Open IcyZip

Start on the device that should show the QR code. The page creates a pairing view in that browser.

Scan or open the link

Use the other device to scan the QR code or open the pairing link in its browser.

Send text or a file

Paste live text for immediate handoff, or use the file action to send one selected file while both browsers are connected.

Use cases

Useful when the devices are already in your hands

Phone to computer file transfer

Send a photo, export, or document from a phone browser to a desktop browser in the same session.

Computer to phone handoff

Move a selected file or a text snippet to a mobile browser without pairing an account first.

QR code file transfer

Use the QR code as the connection step, then keep the actual exchange inside the paired browsers.

Live text bridge

Copy links, codes, notes, or short instructions through the shared live text field.

Privacy and limits

What IcyZip encrypts and what metadata remains

Current product browser clients encrypt live text and file bytes in the browser. The server relays encrypted data for the paired browser views and does not need plaintext text or file content for normal operation.

Encrypted browser payloads

The current browser clients encrypt text and file bytes before sending them through the service. The paired browser decrypts them.

Metadata is still processed

Timing, IP-derived country where configured, browser class, message sizes, filename, file size, type hint, and transfer control identifiers may be visible to the service.

One selected file

IcyZip is not a public file host, shared folder, file search, or offline pickup queue. It is for a selected file in an active paired session.

First-release size limit

The current first-release file size limit is 25 MiB unless the server configuration is changed.

FAQ

Browser file transfer questions

How do I transfer a file between two browsers?

Open IcyZip on one device, scan the QR code with the other device, wait until both browser views are connected, then choose the file action and send one selected file.

Does IcyZip need an account?

No. IcyZip uses a QR code or pairing link instead of account login, email, or cloud-drive setup.

Can I transfer from phone to computer?

Yes. Open IcyZip on the computer, scan the QR code with the phone, then send text or one selected file from either side while both browsers stay connected.

Is this a permanent download link?

No. IcyZip is designed for transient paired browser transfer. It does not provide public file links, shared folders, or offline file pickup.

What should I read before using it for sensitive files?

Read the privacy policy and the limits above. The browser clients encrypt payloads, but connection and transfer metadata still exists.
